¹ The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. ² Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth! For Jehovah has spoken: I have nursed and brought up sons, but they have rebelled against Me. ³ The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master's manger, but Israel does not know; My people have not understood. ⁴ Woe, sinful nation, a people heavy with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, sons who corrupt! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have scorned the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged backward. ⁵ Why will you be stricken any more? Will you continue the revolt? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart is faint. ⁶ From the sole of the foot even to the head, no soundness is in it; only a wound and a stripe and a fresh blow; they have not been closed, nor bound up; nor was it softened with oil. ⁷ Your land is a desolation; your cities burned with fire. Foreigners devour your land before you; and behold, ruin, as overthrown by foreigners. ⁸ And the daughter of Zion is left a booth in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a besieged city. ⁹ Except Jehovah of hosts had left a remnant for us, a few, we would be as Sodom; we would be as Gomorrah. ¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom. Listen to the law of our God, people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ What good to Me are your many sacrifices, says Jehovah? I am full of burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fattened cattle, and the blood of bulls; nor do I delight in the blood of lambs and he goats. ¹² When you come to see My face, who has required this at your hand, to trample My courts? ¹³ Do not add to bringing vain sacrifice; its incense is an abomination to Me. I cannot endure the new moon and sabbath, the going to meeting, and the evil assembly. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to Me. I am weary of bearing them . ¹⁵ And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. Yea, when you multiply prayer, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash yourselves, purify yourselves. Put away the evil of your doings from My sight; stop doing evil. ¹⁷ Learn to do good, seek justice, reprove the oppressor, judge the orphan, strive for the widow. ¹⁸ Come now and let us reason together, says Jehovah: Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as the crimson, they shall be like wool. ¹⁹ If you are willing and hear, you shall eat the good of the land. ²⁰ But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken. ²¹ Oh how the faithful city has become a harlot! She was full of justice; righteousness lodged in it. But now, murderers! ²² Your silver has become dross; your wine is diluted with water. ²³ Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards. They do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them, ²⁴ and says the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Alas! I will be eased of My foes, and avenge Myself of My enemies. ²⁵ And I will return My hand on you, and refine your dross, as with lye, and take away all your alloy. ²⁶ And I will return your judges as at the first; and your advisors, as at the beginning; then you shall be called the city of righteousness, a faithful town. ²⁷ Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her returning ones with righteousness. ²⁸ And the ruin of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together. And those who forsake Jehovah shall be consumed. ²⁹ For they shall be ashamed of the trees which you lusted after; and you shall be ashamed of the gardens that you have chosen. ³⁰ For you shall be like a tree whose leaf fades, and like a garden that has no water in it. ³¹ And the strong shall be for tow, and his work for a spark; and they shall burn both together; and no one shall quench them .

¹² Therefore, all things, whatever you desire that men should do to you, so also you should do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

¹² If I tell you earthly things, and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? ¹³ And no one has gone up into Heaven, except He having come down out of Heaven, the Son of Man who is in Heaven. ¹⁴ And even as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, ¹⁵ that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. ¹⁸ The one believing into Him is not condemned; but the one not believing has already been condemned, for he has not believed into the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone practicing wickedness hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, that his works may not be exposed.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which He speaks with you, as with sons, "My sons, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint while being corrected by Him. ⁶ For whom the Lord loves, He disciplines, and whips every son whom He receives." Prov. 3:11, 12 ⁷ If you endure discipline, God is dealing with you as with sons; for who is the son whom a father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, of which all have become sharers, then you are bastards, and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, indeed we have had fathers of our flesh as correctors, and we respected them . Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and we shall live? ¹⁰ For they truly disciplined us for a few days according to the thing seeming good to them; but He for our profit, in order for us to partake of His holiness. ¹¹ And all discipline for the present indeed does not seem to be joyous, but grievous; but afterward it gives back peaceable fruit of righteousness to the ones having been exercised by it.

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners and has not sat in the seat of scorners. ² But his delight is only in the law of Jehovah, and he meditates in His law day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of waters, which will give its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf will not wither, and all which he does will prosper. ⁴ Not so are the wicked, but they are only as chaff which the wind drives about. ⁵ On account of this the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. ⁶ For Jehovah is knowing the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked shall perish.

⁴ each not looking at their own things, but each also at the things of others.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ² "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise, Ex. 20:12 ³ "that it may be well with you, and you may be long-lived on the earth". Deut. 5:16 ⁴ And fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord. ⁵ And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. ⁶ And these words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart. ⁷ And you shall teach them to your sons, and shall speak of them as you sit in your house, and as you walk in the way, and as you are lying down, and as you are rising up.

²¹ Fathers, do not provoke your children, that they may not be disheartened.

³ Behold! Children are an inheritance of Jehovah; the fruit of the womb is His reward. ⁴ As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the sons of the young. ⁵ Blessed is the man who has filled his quiver with them; they shall not be ashamed, for they shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

⁶ Train up a boy on the opening of his way, even when he is old, he will not turn aside from it.

⁴ And fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.
